My Brain Cancer journey started on Easter Sunday, 2016 in my in-laws backyard, where I experienced a massive seizure virtually out of the blue. I say virtually, because I had been ignoring some tell tale symptoms for a few months - too proud to seek help or accept that anything was wrong with me.
Through a local hospital in Richmond, TX to Houston Methodist in the Medical Center my treatment included Surgery performed by Dr Jonathan Zhang, 30 straight days of radiation therapy (and haircut) by Dr Andrew Farach, followed by 12 months of chemotherapy. On June 6th, 2017 I was declared cancer free from my oncologist Dr Ivo Tremont (pictured)
Despite this great and very welcome news, my journey continues regular MRI scans to observe the cancer I fought doesn't try and make a return.
I remained as active as possible during my treatment and found the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation as a way to honor those afflicted by Brain Cancer and support those who are attempting to limit its effect on patients and their families.
Please join my team or make a donation to me or a member of Houston Irons to raise money and awareness in memory of those lost to Brain Cancer, those who are fighting and for those who are researching treatments.
The Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation was founded in 2002 in memory of Dr. Marnie Rose, a 28-year-old pediatric resident who passed away from what is considered one of the deadliest of human cancers, a glioblastoma (or GBM). The mission of the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation is to eradicate brain cancer through the funding of research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and to better the lives of the brave young patients at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital who were so dear to Marnie's heart.
